Artists

Amanda Magaña

Amanda is a dynamic singer, songwriter, and percussionist, known as one of the Bay Area’s most sought-after artists. Inspired by '90s neo-soul and hip-hop, Amanda invents soulful soundscapes while blending elements of jazz with R&B rhythms, pushing the boundaries of contemporary music.

Originally from Sylmar, California, she moved to San Francisco to study under Dr. John Calloway at San Francisco State University. Since then, Amanda’s musical career has flourished, leading to the release of her 2024 EP, ART THERAPY. Featuring original compositions by Amanda, ART THERAPY offers a deep, authentic exploration of love, sex, and adulthood, with raw lyricism and honesty that encourage listeners to embrace the full spectrum of emotions that life brings. Drawing inspiration from visionaries like Beyoncé and Hiatus Kaiyote, this project showcases Amanda’s unique artistry and has become one of the Bay Area’s most exciting new projects, both live and in the studio.

Amanda’s musical journey has been marked by performing as a percussionist at The Fillmore and Outside Lands. She has also showcased her vocal talent at Carnaval San Francisco and in a guest appearance with Aaron Frazer at The Wiltern. Supported by highly accomplished collaborators, Amanda continues to captivate audiences and solidify her place in the contemporary music scene.

Oddity

With vocals as smooth as aged whiskey, and a warm and lush compositional style inspired by the likes of Strayhorn, Evans and Jobim, Oddity follows in the long-standing tradition of queer jazz expression, all while blending in modern elements of hip-hop and neo-soul.

Oddity’s music is a reflection of her Sagittarius spirit: spontaneous, improvisational, and passionate. As a transfeminine Chinese-American, she manifests a certain yin-yang quality to her sound, embracing the duality of hope and despair, rage and tenderness, revenge and forgiveness.

In her debut album series “The Oddisea”, Oddity explores this messy yet alchemical process of transition: of having to reinvent oneself, of having to let old selves die in order for new selves to be born. Oddity’s story is one of navigating the smoke and mirrors of false salvation, looking deeply into the abyss of the unknown, and ultimately emerging with a radical self-love and an unrelenting drive to answer the all-important question: what work is there to be done?
