Galore

"Many bands preach the virtues of collaboration and cooperation, but few practice those dynamics as virtuously as the San Francisco four-piece outfit Galore.” SF Examiner

San Francisco based Galore releases their second full length album, Dirt, on July 25, 2025 on Speakeasy Studios SF. Cafe du Nord and Speakeasy Studios SF are delighted to host the record release party at Cafe du Nord on July 26th.

With multiple songwriters and vocalists, sinuous intersecting harmonies and an intensely communal creative process, Galore — bassist Ava Rosen, guitarist Ainsley Wagoner, guitarist Griffin Jones and drummer Hannah Smith — embodies the spirit of a true musical collective.  Their second full length album, Dirt, comes out July 25th on Speakeasy Studios SF.

Outside of Wagoner, who hails from Kentucky, and their former guitar player, Britta Leijonflicht, from Yolo County, all the members of Galore grew up in the Bay Area, and they crossed paths through various local music connections. During a series of impromptu musical get-togethers, it became immediately evident that the quartet had a unique synchronicity.

That joy and camaraderie is evident in Galore’s first two releases, their debut self-titled Galore (Rocks in Your Head) and five-song EP called “Blush” (Paisley Shirt Records).  This second full length, Dirt, was produced and recorded by the band along with Jason Kick and Simi Sohota (of Healing Potpourri) at Santo Studios and Tunnel Vision in Oakland, California.

Dirt marks an exploration of themes couched in super catchy melodies over jangly guitar hooks, speaking of the duality of personal life in relation to nature, imagination, and creative process, of carrying on, looking past the bullshit and getting to the heart of something, the dirt layer, to some real feeling and experience. Galore crafted an album replete with sonic moments that mix Galore’s intensely catchy pop melodies, with dynamic layers of fuzzed and jangly guitars, warm wurlitzers, sound effects, layers of uniquely-Galore vocal harmonies (counter melodies in themselves), over the steady rhythm section of drummer Smith and bassist Rosen, with a groove that pushes forward, drawing the melodies into momentum that flows through the whole album.  Dirt draws on their multitude of influences, touched on, like throwing a nod to all the colors in sound, but making a painting of your own.  Or digging in the dirt, uncovering something new or finding creative connections in the collaborative process of recording an album.
